Is it ok to move jobs now?
So what do you think? Is it safe to switch jobs considering the current situation?
Hmmm I bet some of you are probably shouting right now .."What?!" "Hell No!" "Not safe!" "Are you out of your mind?!".. Yup I can hear you!
Ok, first let's discuss what are the factors that we can consider:
- Are you getting what you're worth? or close to it?...ok half of it?
- Are you satisfied with you work? Are you excited going to work everyday?
- Do you find your current work challenging?
- Are getting more marketable? Getting more experience and continuously learning new things?
- Do you like your co-workers? Are they helping you grow?
If you answered yes to most of these questions then you might still consider your current job. However, because you are reading this then I assumed that you are interested to abandon ship. Ok go on....
We are facing one of the worst economic downturn in history but there are still jobs out there that need your skills. Why are you worried getting a new job? Are you scared because you might make the wrong decision and down the line you just blame yourself or others will blame you? It's all about how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth...yeah I just watched Rocky so don't blame for inserting that. Just remember that greatness comes to those who are willing to take the risk.
In life why is that we can always find reasons why we don't want to do things. There's always an excuse. It's just human nature to stay away from something that will get you out of your comfort zone. If the economy will really turn for the worst not even your current job can save you.right? These are all just excuses that is holding you back.
One more thing, if the company is hiring and your company is not doing too well, isn't that a sign that the new company is growing and not really affected by the crisis? So what is your excuse now?
